STATEHOUSE – Charlie Magan joined Representative Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) yesterday at the Statehouse as part of the Indiana House Page Program.
Charlie is a resident of Carmel and goes to school at St. Monica’s grade school. Charlie’s interest in Senate Bill (SB) 153 - which changes the employment age of children interested in working for youth athletic programs as a referee, umpire or official - and his family ties to Evansville led him to assist Rep. Crouch at the Statehouse.
Charlie’s family has deep roots in Evansville even though he now lives on the north side of Indianapolis. His family ties stretch from his father Michael Magan, his grandparents Tom and the late Karen Magan, and even his great-grandparents Marjorie and the late Arthur Donovan.
“I have known the Magan family for a number of years,” said Rep. Crouch. “The Magan family has made a positive impact on the city of Evansville for quite some time. Charlie continues that family tradition by helping me out as a page at the Statehouse.”
The Indiana House Page Program is an educational way for students to gain a better understanding of the lawmaking process by meeting state elected officials and witnessing firsthand how laws are made.
“It was a great experience talking with Charlie about his life and about SB 153,” said Rep. Crouch. “Charlie plays soccer and believes this bill will give him and other young Hoosiers his age the chance to be referees for other youth soccer leagues.”
SB153 passed with overwhelming support in both the House and the Senate. It will be now be sent to the governor’s office to be signed into law.
