STATEHOUSE - Rep. Suzanne Crouch (R-Evansville) honored Charles T. Cantwell with the Distinguished Hoosier Award for his years of service and dedication to Indiana. Mr. Cantwell was born in Quincy, IN on July 8, 1925 and is a veteran of World War II. He is an active alumnus of Indiana University (IU) serving on their local Board of Directors and is a past president of the board. He actively works to seek state funding for Hoosiers seeking higher education. Beyond education, Mr. Cantwell has been an instrumental part in efforts to honor historic landmarks in Indiana. He led the charge for receiving two historical markers in his hometown of Quincy. The two locations honored were Quincy High School and the Quincy Picnic Grounds. Mr. Cantwell also raised funds to restore the old Cataract Covered Bridge in the Cataract Falls State Park. "It is gentlemen like Charles Cantwell that make me proud to be a Hoosier," Rep. Crouch said. "He's dedicated his life to making Indiana a better state and preserving the landmarks that have created her legacy. I feel deeply privileged to present Mr. Cantwell with such an honorable award and thank him for his patronage to the State of Indiana." |
