“I am proud to honor Nick as he is truly a model for student athletes and a perfect example of what hard work and dedication can achieve,” said Rep. McNamara. “Through his achievements, Nick has had an opportunity to meet wrestlers and coaches from all over the country and in different nations, and he truly represented Indiana and the United States well. As Nick is only a freshman, I am sure he has a bright future with many more championships in his future.”
The Pan American Championships feature nations from North, Central and South America. Seven United States wrestlers won gold medals in men’s freestyle at the FILA Cadet Pan American Championships, which were held in Medellin, Columbia. The U.S. completed the sweep of team titles, finishing the men’s freestyle tournament first with 97 points. Venezuela finished in second with 77 points, and Colombia placed third with 21 points.
