STATEHOUSE - Rep. Wendy McNamara (R- Mount Vernon) co-authored House Bill 1324, which urges the Legislative Council to assign the topics of child molesting and child solicitation to an existing study committee, which will look to see whether to elevate the sentences for these offenses under certain circumstances.

"This bill will help protect the safety and interest of Indiana children," said Rep. McNamara. "The passage of this bill will allow for further debate on what proper sentencing standards for these offenses should be."

House Bill 1324 was passed unanimously out of the House. The bill then moved to the Senate where it was amended and it now returns to the House for review of those amendments.
