STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Mount Vernon) has been appointed to serve as the Vice Chair of Courts and Criminal Code. She will also serve as a member of the Judiciary and Government and Regulatory Reform committees, as well as the Select Committee on Government Reduction.
“I feel privileged to be chosen for a second term as the Vice Chair of Courts and Criminal Code,” said Rep. McNamara. “I look forward to the opportunity to serve in a capacity where I can lead on important issues facing our criminal justice system and our state. We are committed to these issues along with our pursuit of fostering job growth and providing excellent educational opportunities for Hoosiers.”
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.
