Rep. McNamara commends local law enforcement

STATEHOUSE- State Representative Wendy McNamara (R- Mt. Vernon) commends local law enforcement officials for their hard work in a recent drug sweep that led to the successful apprehension of twenty individuals.

"I want to thank all of our law enforcement officials who aided this mission," said Rep. McNamara. "Due to their efforts and hard work, they are making Posey County a safer place to live."

On the morning of Friday, September 30, a drug task force arrested twenty individuals on charges of dealing a variety of drugs. This was an undercover operation that had been underway since March. A drug task force comprised of individuals from the Prosecutor's Office, Sheriff's Department, and Mount Vernon Police Department in conjunction with the State Police and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies conducted investigations that led to warrants for arrest being issued.

"I am pleased that our Prosecutor's Office and law enforcement officers are taking proactive steps to address this issuem," said Rep. McNamara. "I am committed to supporting measures that aid our law enforcement community in combating the sale of illicit drugs."
