STATEHOUSE –State Representative Wendy McNamara (R-Mount Vernon) presented Dr. Susan Graham McDowell Riley with a Sagamore of the Wabash award, the most prestigious award given by the office of Governor Mike Pence.
Dr. Riley currently serves as deputy superintendent for academic affairs and accountability and plans on retiring at the end of the month. Rep. McNamara presented the award to Dr. McDowell Riley at the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) Board Meeting.
“Susan is the reason EVSC received the National Data Campaign Award,” said Rep. McNamara. “I consider Susan to be the foremost authority on understanding, disaggregating and implementing school data.”
Dr. Susan Graham McDowell Riley was born and raised in Evansville. She is a graduate from the University of Evansville and serves on many state advisory boards regarding data and school psychology. Dr. McDowell Riley has presented nationally on education issues and continues to be sought out for her expertise. Additionally, she is very active in her church, Zoar United Church of Christ, has served on Evansville ARC Board and is very supportive of the arts in Evansville. She attends many high school events and has remained very loyal to North High School.
“I am honored to recognize the talent in our community,” said Rep. McNamara. “Susan is well respected throughout the Evansville educational community and more importantly, she is one of the most humble people I know. Susan would never seek recognition for all that she has done inside and outside of education. She genuinely cares about everyone she meets and works with. She should be congratulated on her achievements.”
