STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments today for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.
State Representative Steve Davisson (R-Salem) was reappointed to serve on the following committees: Ways and Means and Public Health.
“I am honored to have been reappointed to the Ways and Means Committee which is tasked with reviewing our finances and coming up with a budget proposal that will fund our state for another two years. My goal is to pass an honestly balanced budget that does not increase taxes on hardworking Hoosiers. This will ensure Indiana’s continued success and further strengthen our state and local economies,” said Rep. Davisson.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I firmly believe that committees are the workhorses of the institution. I look forward to being a part of a new generation of leaders as they shepherd important bills through our legislative process,” said Speaker Bosma.
The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30pm.
