EDITOR’S NOTE: State Representative Steve Davisson (R-Salem) issued the following statement about House Bill 1001, Indiana’s biennial budget, which passed out of the Indiana House today with a 68 to 29 vote:
STATEHOUSE- “As a member of Ways and Means, I am proud to have played a role in crafting House Bill 1001, Indiana’s biennial budget. My goal was to help construct an honestly balanced budget that maintains our state’s healthy reserves and funds strategic priorities like education and public safety, without increasing taxes.
“With education a top priority this session, I am particularly pleased that our budget includes the most dollars in Indiana’s history dedicated to K-12 education. We also have significantly increased the foundation level of dollars spent per student, and I am also pleased to see expansion and improvement for career and technical education as well.”
