STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus.  State Representative Steve Davisson (R-Salem) was appointed to three committees including one vice chairmanship.

Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.

“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.

Rep. Davisson was appointed to serve on the following committees: Public Health (Vice  Chairman), Veterans Affairs and Public Safety and Agriculture and Rural Development.

“I am eager to start my role as Vice-Chairman of Public Health,” said Rep. Davisson. “As a Pharmacist I have experience in handling many health related issues, and I look forward to bringing my expertise in addressing the state’s needs on this committee. Committees are the backbone of the legislative process; we are able to hear testimony from constituents and experts in order to craft legislation that is best for Hoosiers.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process.  Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
