STATEHOUSE – State Representative Steve Davisson (R-Salem) joined House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis), fellow legislators, staff and other state office holders in donating bedding, towels and other supplies to the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) at the Statehouse.

“Domestic violence affects so many people throughout our state,” said Laura Berry, Executive Director of ICADV. “We are happy to work with the House legislators on this issue and are proud to be the recipient of the Speaker’s charity initiative in 2015 which will support local domestic violence programs.”

ICADV is a statewide coalition that provides technical assistance, resources, information and training to domestic violence awareness programs, support agencies and concerned individuals. ICADV focuses on prevention of domestic abuse, legislative advocacy, public awareness, advocate training and legal assistance.

“With over 10,000 victims of domestic abuse sheltered around Indiana, I was eager to support this organization that gives back so much more in return,” said Rep. Davisson. “I will continue to raise awareness for this issue during the legislative session and thereafter.”

Legislators and staff brought in pillows, bedding, towels, art supplies for children, cleaning and office supplies and other items for the ICADV.  Laura Berry and a victim of domestic abuse were present to accept the donations and thank those who participated in the collection efforts.

“This year, I am pleased that we prioritized public safety in our 2015 legislative agenda, which includes the issue of domestic violence,” said Rep. Davisson. “I look forward to coming up with solutions and addressing this, and many other issues, throughout the legislative session.”
