STATEHOUSE — “We just finished a short session at the Indiana Statehouse, and – although it was not a budget year – we were able to pass monumental legislation benefitting all Hoosiers. Additionally, we worked in a bipartisan effort to continue keeping Indiana competitive and viable. “For one, we passed legislation to phase-out the Inheritance Tax overtime to ensure small business owners – for example – who wish to pass down their business are not hindered by unnecessary taxes. I think this compliments other legislation we passed this session that helps our youth. More specifically, legislation that funds full-day kindergarten, provides students with additional educational opportunities and ensures Hoosier college students are not being burdened with excessive college requirements. “Although we had a rocky start to session, we ultimately worked together to pass important pieces of legislation on behalf of all Hoosiers living, working and raising their families in Indiana. I am proud of all that we were able to accomplish.” -30- |
