STATEHOUSE – State Representative Rhonda Rhoads (R-Corydon) has been appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Education Committee. The NCSL Standing Committees are composed of legislators and legislative staff who are appointed by leadership in each legislature. There are 10 committees that deal with both state and state-federal issues.

The Education Committee studies pre-school through higher education issues. This includes areas such as early childhood education, K-12 reform efforts, higher education, the federal No Child Left Behind Act, the Higher Education Act, school violence, special education, teachers and school finance.

“I am grateful to be appointed to the Education Committee,” said Rep. Rhoads. “As a former educator for more than 20 years, I hope to use my first-hand experience to collaborate with fellow legislators and develop sound policies to further education achievement for students.”

The NCSL Standing Committees meet three times each year and allow legislators and staff to benefit from the experiences of other states in shaping public policy, analyzing new laws and managing legislative institutions.
