STATEHOUSE — “I am pleased that Jackson County has been selected for the preschool pilot program. Preschool gives children the opportunity to develop vital skills, particularly reading, at an early age. These skills will benefit the child the rest of his or her life.
“In its early stages, this pilot program is limited to only five counties. With a focus on results and accountability to taxpayers, the legislature can monitor the effectiveness of this program before considering expansion. It is essential that the state’s contribution to this public-private partnership is a solid return on investment.”
