STATEHOUSE — State Representative Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) met yesterday with delegation members representing the Zhejiang Province’s Foreign Affairs Department.

The Zhejiang Province, home to more than 54 million people, has been Indiana’s sister state in China since 1987. Their province has expressed a commitment to continue commercial business ties with Indiana.

“Indiana has been known in recent years as a great state for attracting international investment,” said Rep. Lucas. “With a highly attractive tax climate, our state is ripe for doing business.”

Members of the Chinese delegation were particularly interested in which policy areas our legislators were focused. Rep. Lucas shared some of the experiences that he has had on the committees which he serves; Public Policy, Education and Environmental Affairs committees

“It was a pleasure to meet with the Chinese officials,” said Rep. Lucas. “I enjoyed the opportunity to discuss ways of increasing international commerce between their province and Indiana.”
