STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. State Representative Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) has been reappointed Chairman of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee. He will also serve on the Roads and Transportation Committee and the Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve on each of these important committees,” said Rep. Frye. “As a retired firefighter, and Chairman of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, my top priority is to continue advancing policies that make our state a safer place for all Hoosiers while also working to support our service men and women.” Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor. “I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know they are all eager to begin their work,” said Speaker Bosma. The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30pm.
