The General Assembly is continuing these efforts with House Bills 1005, 1006, 1007, and 1008 which will bolster Indiana's economic development by increasing the amount of available capital for entrepreneurs, giving tax credits to businesses willing to restore aging buildings, and creating a one-stop-shop for Hoosiers to establish a business, register with state agencies, and obtain necessary licenses and permits. "We must pass legislation that creates a free and fair market for entrepreneurs," said Rep. Frye. "Legislation should not build big governments by over-regulating and restricting the ability for fair business practices." This increase in revenue reaffirms the consumers' willingness to invest in the economy because of greater stability in the marketplace. Taxes will not be raised under Governor Daniels' leadership and while Republicans control the House and Senate. The Republican's Strengthen Indiana Plan reiterates the policies proposed this legislative session, focusing on protecting the Hoosier taxpayer, balancing the budget without raising taxes, and creating new jobs by attracting new businesses to Indiana. The State Budget Agency reported Indiana as ahead of its prospected collection forecast by $78 million. "These figures are encouraging and will be essential as the General Assembly crafts the next two-year state budget" said Rep. Frye.
