(STATEHOUSE) Jan. 15, 2008 - Rep. Duncan (R-Greensburg) issued the following statements in reaction to the State of the State address: "I am pleased and excited for the people of Indiana and our district, tonight Gov. Daniels put forth a great beginning to the property tax discussion. We are now a stronger state both economically and fiscally. Unemployment is at its lowest it has been in six years. The size of state government has been reduced by ten percent. Indiana is solvent and we have a surplus. We are in a position to talk about tax cuts while our neighboring states are talking about raising their taxes. The governor proposes immediate relief, permanent protection and lasting reform through a constitutional amendment. Tonight was a great night. It is a great beginning and I am excited for all of us." -30- |
