STATEHOUSE - The Indiana House of Representatives congratulated Rep. Cleo Duncan (R-Greensburg) today on her 16 years of service as State Representative of House District 67. In the fall, Rep. Duncan announced she would not be running for re-election and discussed plans to retire after the 2010 legislative session. All of her House colleagues, both Republicans and Democrats, were present to honor and speak on her behalf. "Cleo Duncan is perhaps the sweetest woman I have ever met," said Republican Leader Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis). "She has been a tireless advocate for the issues she believes in, and I have always appreciated her for her experience she brought to the table. "She broke the glass ceiling, in 2005, when she was appointed Chairman of the House Roads and Transportation Committee. She was the first woman in Indiana to ever become chairman of any committee; no one could have done a better job." During her years at the Statehouse, Rep. Duncan was most known for her work with the Slow Down/Move Over legislation, mental disability and safe haven awareness and the Greensburg Honda plant. She was also known for enthusiasm, generously and continued bipartisan effort. "I have had such a wonderful time serving those in House District 67," said Rep. Duncan. "The people have always been what motivated me to do my best. It has never been about politics-it has always been about helping people and doing what is right. "I have taken my responsibilities seriously because I understand the people I serve look upon me for help and for an answer. I enjoy helping all those I can and I hope the people of my district think I did them right." Rep.
