STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Cleo Duncan (R-Greensburg), an alumna of Purdue University, honored the Purdue Boilermakers Men's Basketball team in a resolution Wednesday for taking home a share of the regular season Big Ten Championship.
The Big Ten Conference also awarded Head Coach Matt Painter with the Big Ten Coach of the Year honors, his second in the last three seasons.
The Purdue Boilermakers (26-4) won a share of the Big Ten regular season title after knocking off the Penn State Nittany Lions, 64-60, bringing a close to the regular season. This is Purdue's first Big Ten title in 14 years.
"Congratulations to Coach Painter and his team on the great job they have done," said Rep. Duncan. "As a Purdue alum, I am proud of the team's accomplishments, not only for the university, but also for the people of our great state."
Along with the overall team and head coach's success, several players on the team took home individual accolades.
Senior guard Chris Kramer won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second time in his career. Kramer is the only player in the history of Purdue basketball to earn Big Ten All-Defensive Team honors in each of his four collegiate seasons.
Juniors Robbie Hummel and E'Twaun Moore also took home awards after receiving first-team All-Big Ten honors.
