STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the 118th General Assembly of the Indiana House of Representatives.   State Rep. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) was appointed to four House Committees, including the Chairmanship of the House Utilities & Energy Committee, and was reappointed as Assistant Republican Caucus Chairman.

“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.

Rep. Koch was appointed to the following committees:

• Utilities & Energy (Chairman)
• Judiciary
• Rules & Legislative Procedures
• Statutory Committee on Ethics

“It is an exciting time to work on issues such as energy and telecommunications,” said Rep. Koch. “We also face challenges, such as the condition of much of our water and wastewater infrastructure. I look forward to the opportunity to shape public policy in these and other areas.”

Standing committees are the initial stage of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and focus on the details of proposed legislation before it is considered on the House floor.

As Assistant Republican Caucus Chairman, Rep. Koch works with Speaker Bosma and Caucus Chair Kathy Richardson (R-Noblesville) in managing the operations of the House.

Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
