STATEHOUSE - In a ceremony yesterday, former Governor Edgar Whitcomb was honored with the dedication of his bust to be displayed at the Indiana Statehouse. Governor Mike Pence and Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann spoke at the event.

State Representative Eric Koch (R-Bedford) was in attendance for the ceremony. He serves on the Friends of Ed Whitcomb Committee that organized the event. The committee’s purpose is to honor former Governor Whitcomb for his accomplishments as governor and service in WWII by commissioning the bust in the Statehouse and a life-sized monument on the grounds of the Jennings Count Courthouse.

“Ed Whitcomb is a true American hero,” said Rep. Koch. “It is a fitting tribute to him that his service in the Statehouse be commemorated with a bust made of Indiana limestone. His life as a war hero, statesman and adventurer serves as an inspiration to all Hoosiers.”

The Friends of Ed Whitcomb Committee includes Rep. Koch, Sen. Brent Steele (R-Bedford), Rep. Tim Neese (R-Elkhart), Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) and former Secretary of State Ed Simcox. The Jennings County Community Foundation serves as the fiscal agent for the projects.
