STATEHOUSE- State Rep. Eric Koch's (R-Bedford) legislation to add cell phone numbers to Indiana's "Do Not Call" list passed the House chamber by a vote of 95-0 and will now move to the Indiana Senate.
House Bill 1273 would allow Indiana consumers to add their cell phone number to Indiana's "Do Not Call" list so as not to receive unwanted calls and text messages from telemarketers.
"Cell phone users deserve the same level of privacy protection afforded to landlines," Koch said. "This bill aligns the law with technology."
Rep. Koch serves in District 65 which includes Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, and Lawrence counties. For the 2011 legislative session, Rep. Koch currently serves as the Chair of the Elections & Apportionment Committee, and member of the Select Committee on Government Reduction, Statutory Committee on Ethics, and the Utilities & Energy Committee. Rep. Koch also serves as Assistant Republican Caucus Chairman.
