STATEHOUSE- State Representative Eric Koch (R-Bedford) is encouraging local fourth graders to participate in a statewide essay competition in conjunction with "Indiana Statehood Day," a celebration of Indiana's 194th birthday.
The Indiana Statehouse Tour Office is sponsoring the competition. Winners will be honored at the Statehood Day Celebration taking place on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. EST, at the Indiana Statehouse.
"I encourage all area fourth graders to enter the contest by writing what Indiana means to you. This is a great way for students to honor our state, while being recognized themselves," said Rep. Koch.
The competition rules are as follows:
. The competition is open to any Indiana 4th grade public, private or home school student.
The first place winner will be invited to read his or her essay at the December 10th ceremony at the Statehouse. "I hope to see a fourth grader from our area at the Statehouse on December 10th," said Rep. Koch.
