STATEHOUSE – House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1005, co-authored by State Representative Eric Koch (R-Bedford), was signed into law by Governor Mike Pence. Rep. Koch attended the bill signing today at the Statehouse.

The Government Reduction Committee was established in 2010 to better protect Indiana taxpayers. As a result of this committee’s work to have a leaner, more efficient state government, 40 boards and commissions along with more than 400 appointments have been eliminated. House Republicans continued this initiative through HEA 1005, which reduces duplicative code, red tape and layers of bureaucracy.

“The work we’ve done on HEA 1005 this session will go a long way to help our state government run more effectively and efficiently,” said Rep. Koch.

HEA 1005 makes various changes to the Title 9 portion of the Indiana Code. Other portions of the bill include the removal of obsolete language no longer used by the Department of Labor, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Family and Social Services Administration.

“Keeping Indiana’s code up to date allows our state’s marketplace to operate more efficiently,” said Rep. Koch. “This legislation will benefit businesses and business owners all over Indiana.”
