 BEDFORD-In recognition of Arbor Day, State Representative Eric Koch (R-Bedford) and the Lawrence County Master Gardeners are partnering to distribute 100 tree seedlings from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) nursery at Vallonia for the benefit of the local community.
Rep. Koch has asked to Lawrence County Master Gardeners organization to select the recipients of the seedlings and oversee their distribution and planting. The Master Gardeners will plant several of the trees at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds and work with Mike Mitchell at the City of Bedford Parks Department to distribute the remaining seedlings to members of the public to promote environmental stewardship. Tree seedlings include white pine, pin oak, red oak and gray dogwoods. "Planting trees is one way to give a gift to future generations," said Rep. Koch.
