STATEHOUSE - State Representative Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) is encouraging students ages 13-18 to sign up for the Indiana House Page Program.  The program allows students to view and participate in the day-to-day activities of the General Assembly and the Statehouse.

"The Indiana House Page Program is one of my favorite educational opportunities for students," said Rep. Messmer. "The program allows students to interact with their representative and get a behind the scenes look at how the Indiana legislative process works."

Hundreds of students in the page program get the chance to tour the governor's office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate, and the Indiana Supreme Court. Pages will also receive the opportunity to witness floor sessions while working closely with their representative.

Students will be given an excused absence for one day of school, and are responsible for transportation to and from Indianapolis. Appointments fill up quickly, so those interested should apply as soon as possible.

If you are interested in serving as a page for the House of Representatives send your name, age, address, phone number and school to State Rep. Mark Messmer, 200 W. Washington St., Statehouse Room 401-4, Indianapolis, IN 46204, or e-mail requests toH63@in.gov.
