[r63] Changes to Wild Turkey Hunting Season

This year please note the following changes to turkey hunting season:

  • adding seven days to the early archery portion of the fall turkey season
  • adding a second (late) archery turkey season to coincide with the late deer archery season (they are at the same time)
  • expanding the fall turkey firearms season in the south for seven more days (12 days total - including two weekends) 

The season dates and locations are as follows:


An individual can hunt a wild turkey with archery equipment, including crossbows, statewide, from Oct. 1-31, 2010, and from Dec. 4, 2010-Jan. 1, 2011.  

An individual can hunt a wild turkey with legal firearms from Oct. 20-31, 2010 in the following counties only:

  • Clark
  • Clay
  • Crawford
  • Daviess
  • Dearborn
  • Dubois
  • Fayette
  • Floyd
  • Fountain
  • Franklin
  • Gibson
  • Greene
  • Harrison
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Jennings
  • Knox
  • Lawrence
  • Martin
  • Monroe
  • Morgan
  • Ohio
  • Orange
  • Owen
  • Parke
  • Perry
  • Pike
  • Posey
  • Putnam
  • Ripley
  • Scott
  • Spencer
  • Sullivan
  • Switzerland
  • Union
  • Vanderburgh
  • Vermillion
  • Vigo
  • Warren
  • Warrick
  • Washington 

An individual who hunts wild turkeys from Dec. 4-19, 2010, must wear hunter orange.
