The award recognizes high school seniors for their outstanding leadership skills, high academic performance and participation in community service projects.
“Zachary is the type of student that every community and school is proud to have,” said Rep. Smith. “With his strong leadership abilities and determination, Zachary has a bright future ahead of him.”
Beginning annually in 2000, Comcast has reached out to high school guidance counselors and principals to recognize the brightest seniors as the nation’s “leaders and achievers.” The award recipients are nominated for their extensive involvement in their schools and participation in various service projects that positively impact their communities.
Since 2001, Comcast has awarded approximately $19 million in scholarship funds to more than 19,000 students across the nation. Zachary was one of 49 Hoosier students to receive the $1,000 award.
“I want to congratulate Zachary and the rest of the winners statewide on their dedication to their academics and community service,” said Rep. Smith. “He is setting an incredible example throughout his community and I wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
The award was presented by First Lady Karen Pence at the Indiana Statehouse.
