State Rep. Milo Smith honored to represent Indiana at the Early Learning Fellows conference
STATEHOUSE- State Representative Milo Smith (R-Columbus) has been selected by House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) to represent Indiana at the Early Learning Fellows conference in Denver, Colorado. Hosted by the National Conference of State Legislatures, the conference will be held May 15 and 16.
“I am honored and humbled that Speaker Bosma has selected me to represent our state at the Early Learning Fellows conference in Denver,” said Rep. Smith. “This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with other state leaders, share ideas and work together to strengthen early education and better support families at the state-level.”
This conference, part of the Early Learning Fellows program, is intended to connect legislative leaders in early education and childhood development to share research, build knowledge and exchange ideas and solutions in regards to early learning as well as the early achievement gap.
The program is geared towards improving the quality of child care, implementing high-quality preschool programs and coming up with innovative solutions to support families with young children throughout the nation. Leaders attending the conference will be provided with top-notch research and policy information that they can use in their prospective states.
“I am grateful and looking forward to this opportunity to strengthen Indiana for Hoosier families,” said Rep. Smith. “I am eager to bring the information and tools back from this conference in order to make Indiana a better place to live and raise family.”
Addressing challenges with governance, financing, data systems in addition to teacher training and professional development will be discussed at the conference as well.
