"It's unfortunate that a sensible and workable budget, created in a bipartisan manner, was not produced after months of negotiations. The budget we create every two years should reflect the values and priorities of our state; the proposed budget certainly didn't reflect mine or the people I represent. It is long past time to reduce the state budget and leave the family budget alone. I could not support the proposal before us because it called for spending federal dollars today and expecting our children to pick up the tab tomorrow."
