Indiana Economic Development Association seeks input from legislators
(STATEHOUSE) Jan. 22, 2008 - Today, Rep. Milo Smith and Senator Skinner served on a panel for the Indiana Economic Development Association. The IEDA is a group of economic development leaders concerned about legislative issues pending in the legislature.
IEDA works to make economic development in the state more effective, creating more jobs.
"Members of the association expressed concerns regarding the referendum and remonstrance process," Rep. Smith said. "Community leaders are concerned that referendum requirements on major capital projects will stunt the growth potential of Indiana."
During the 45-minute meeting, IEDA offered Smith the opportunity to explain the assessment process and briefly discussed his amendments to House Bill 1001.
IEDA also discussed other topics including annexation and a reform to Indiana's complicated assessment process.
