2011 Budget Overview:
- No Tax Increases
- Structural balance by Fiscal Year 13
- Maintain sufficient reserves to protect taxpayers
- Protect K-12 education
- The FY12/13 budget will protect Hoosier taxpayers, preserve vital services, and allow Indiana to maintain the stable and sound fiscal environment necessary to create Hoosier jobs
- K-12 education is the top funding priority
- K-12 funding accounts for nearly half of the state budget
Session Update:
- Two bills have been signed by the Governor: Senate Bill 32, Vote Centers and House Bill 1450, Unemployment Insurance
- The Democrats have been absent for going on three weeks Speaker Bosma has officially compelled the Democrats to return to the Statehouse and resume work
- Speaker Bosma has withheld the daily per diem stipend for Democrats
- The fines began on Monday, March 7, 2011
- The House Democrats will be fined $250 each day session is held when they do not show up for work
