Rep. Smith represents District 59 with a strong voting record
STATEHOUSE-State Rep. Milo Smith (R-Columbus) represented District 59 with a strong voting record this session. His vote record was 99.85% percent for the 2011 Legislative session. There were a total of 647 votes this session.
"I know that each vote could potentially affect one of our community members, so it is important for me to be present to vote and to represent them. I take the responsibility of serving District 59 very seriously," said Rep. Smith.
On the House floor, members will vote to adopt committee reports, amendments and other various motions. Legislation addressed this session included economic development, redistricting and the state budget.
Often, committee hearings and legislative meetings are scheduled during the time the House chamber is in session, thus making it difficult for members to be present. In addition, members will sometimes step off the House floor to have the opportunity to meet with constituents or community leaders to further discuss important issues facing their local area.
"It is easy to miss a vote when another responsibility of being a representative needs attention, but I worked hard to ensure that I was present to represent my constituents," said Rep. Smith.
