STATEHOUSE - The time it takes to get to the voting machine on Election Day could be reduced under a bill authored by Rep. Milo Smith (R-Columbus). House Bill 1326 would allow all precinct election officers to check voter identification. Under current law, only poll judges and inspectors have that power.
The Senate passed HB 1326 today by a 40-8 vote.
"This bill will make the voting process run more smoothly," said Rep. Smith. "It's important that voting precincts are as quick and productive as possible. I think that this bill is just another step towards efficiency."
