(STATEHOUSE) Jan. 13, 2009 - Rep. Woody Burton (R-Greenwood) issued the following statements in reaction to the State of the State address: "The governor did not mention anything we didn't already know. Our mission this session has been, and will always be, to get Hoosiers through this tough time with the economy. We have to get more jobs to Indiana communities, pass legislation that will cap property taxes and control state spending. It is also imperative that we do not dip into our state's reserves. We cannot spend money today when we are uncertain about tomorrow. The state of the economy is bad, but it can always get worse. Spending unnecessary money now is imprudent." |
