STATEHOUSE—Rep. Woody Burton (R-Whiteland) spoke at the Farmers Insurance Group legislative luncheon yesterday for the second year about this session’s legislative agenda and how attendees could get involved in the legislative process. “It is always an honor to speak to the Farmers Insurance Group,” said Rep. Burton. “I enjoy giving them a glimpse into how the legislative process works at the Indianapolis Statehouse and how the insurance industry can be often influenced by legislation. “This year – as always – was a great and very attentive group of professionals, and I hope I have the opportunity to attend this event in the future.” During his presentation, Rep. Burton spoke about the legislative process and some of the most highly discussed legislation currently in the General Assembly. Those issues included Right to Work, smoking ban and various tax matters. Additionally, he advised the attendees on the importance of becoming familiar with the legislative process, knowing elected officials who represent them and learning about both sides of any issue. The group also heard presentations from other members of the Indiana General Assembly. -30- |
