"I look forward to Chairing this committee because I am very passionate about financial institutions, more specifically, concerns with the mortgage industry," said Rep. Burton. "With my background in real estate and my institutional knowledge of this committee, I am eager to get things started and steer this committee in the right direction. Rep. Burton served as Chairman of the House Financial Institutions Committee during the 114th General Assembly. "In these extremely difficult economic times, more and more foreclosures and abandoned properties are becoming a familiar sight in our communities. As someone involved in the mortgage industry, it's frustrating to see struggling homeowners not receive the help they need. And in times like these, communication between the lending industry and homeowners are vital to resolve these problems. Both of these issues I plan to address this session." In addition to his leadership on the Financial Institutions Committee, Rep. Burton has also served on the Insurance Committee and the Elections and Apportionment Committee. |
