STATEHOUSE—Rep. Woody Burton (R-Whiteland) met with members of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association from Johnson County today. The group was at the Statehouse for the organization’s annual legislative brunch. Rep. Burton and Rep. Ralph Foley (R-Martinsville) met with the group on the House Floor to discuss the legislative process and provide updates on current legislation. “I’m always pleased to see how legislation affects members of our community, and it was a pleasure meeting with this group today,” said Rep. Burton. “They reaffirmed the work we’re doing here at the Statehouse, particularly legislation directly benefitting Hoosiers.” The meeting follows the recent Senate passage of House Bill (HB) 1123, which would provide a one-time 13th check to members of the Indiana State Teachers’ Retirement Fund, among other retired public employees. HB 1123 has passed both chambers and is currently awaiting a final approval in the House. If approved, it will be sent to the governor’s office for his signature to be signed into law. -30- |
