# Elections and Apportionment Committee "I appreciate the Speaker and our leadership for giving me the opportunity to be a part of these committees and I look forward to getting to work come January," said Rep. Burton today. "These are all committees that I have a huge interest in and feel that I can contribute to in a way that will benefit all Hoosiers." In addition to serving these committees, Rep. Burton will be serving as Chairman of the House Financial Institutions Committee. "I also appreciate Speaker Bosma for having confidence in me to serve these selected committees and also serve as Chairman. We are really going to accomplish great things this session." Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year. Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor. |
