A manufacturing company in Franklin recently announced  plans to expand its operations and potentially create of up to 46 new jobs by the end of 2010, said Rep. Woody Burton (R-Greenwood).

Rexam manufactures plastic packaging for the health care, closures and personal care industries, along with aluminum beverage cans and already employs more than 100 associates in Franklin and will immediately begin to hire additional help for manufacturing and supervisory positions.

"I couldn't be happier about Rexam's plans to expand its business and I'd like to send my personal thanks to Mayor Fred Paris, Gov. Daniels and all the people of Franklin for all of their help and support," Rep. Burton said. "With several announcements the past few months of new opportunities, at a time when everyone is struggling to find jobs in this economy, I'm encouraged to see more and more businesses expanding their operations in our state."

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Rexam up to $250,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $48,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans.

Rexam also produces more than 55 billion aluminum cans every year. The company employs more than 22,000 associates in 20 countries and is headquartered out of London, England.
