STATEHOUSE — State Representative Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) joined State Senator Allen Paul (R-Richmond) and Richmond Mayor Sally Hutton last week in Richmond to unveil new signage for the Wayne County Veterans’ Memorial Park. In 2013, Rep. Hamm sponsored Senate Concurrent Resolution 4 which urged the Indiana Department of Transportation to post signage along Interstate 70 recognizing the Wayne County Veterans’ Memorial Park. “It is important that we recognize the great sacrifices made by Indiana veterans in their service to our country,” said Rep. Hamm. “It is fitting that the proper signage by placed along Interstate 70 to recognize the Wayne County Veterans’ Memorial Park.” The Wayne County Veterans’ Memorial Park honors area veterans for their service. The park features memorials to veterans of all wars and the tanks that used to set on the courthouse lawn in addition to picnic facilities and green space for outdoor activities. The park is located in the Whitewater Gorge and can be accessed via the Johnson Street entrance, the pedestrian suspension bridge on Sim Hodgin Parkway or the Whitewater Gorge Trail.
