STATEHOUSE - Today marked Organization Day for the Indiana House of Representatives, a ceremonial day on which all 100 members-including 19 new State Representatives-were sworn in by Chief Justice Shepard.

The newly elected Speaker of the House, Brian C. Bosma, pledged that he will do his duty and asks that all the Representatives do the same.

Two years ago, State Rep. Dave Yarde (R-Garrett) was among those being sworn in for the first time.

"This year, my focus will be on jobs, crafting a balanced budget with no tax increase and moving education forward," said Rep. Yarde. "We are going to have to work in a bipartisan manner and have cooperation to do what is best for Hoosiers."

In September, the House Republican Caucus released their legislative plan which addressed their goals for jobs, education, government spending, and standing up to Washington, D.C. At the time, now-Speaker Bosma also noted that he wanted to 'reach across the aisle' and 'bring civility back to the house chamber'.
