Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett honored 28 school corporations throughout the state during a press conference held at the Statehouse on Thursday.
The grant was created by the General Assembly during the 2011 legislative session and distributes $6 million to winning school corporations around the state to recognize and reward their excellent teachers.
“What an honor for East Noble School Corporation to receive this grant,” said Rep. Yarde. “Awarding this grant shows how excellent East Noble School Corporation’s teachers have been and provides funds for them to continue to strive for excellence.”
Grant winners were selected based on satisfying legal standards as well as the quality of the school corporation’s performance evaluation system in terms of ability to accurately differentiate teacher effectiveness, provide meaningful feedback to employees, and to support, develop and retain excellent teachers.
“It is through outstanding teachers that students are able to excel,” said Rep. Yarde. “Being a teacher myself, I know firsthand the efforts and hard work that go into creating a classroom where students can learn and grow. I want to congratulate the teachers of East Noble School Corporation for their achievements and for ultimately, creating a classroom environment where students reach excellence.”
East Noble School Corporation is being awarded a grant of $287,136.
