STATEHOUSE- House Republican Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) has announced committee appointments for the Indiana House Republican caucus. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
In 2011, Rep. Dave Yarde (R-Garrett) will serve on the Elections and Apportionment, Utilities and Energy and Roads and Transportation Committees.
He will also serve as the Vice Chairman of the Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
"Between redistricting and the state budget, this will be a busy year," said Rep. Yarde. "I'm prepared to thoroughly examine each piece of legislation that comes before my committees, and I also hope to receive a good deal of input from my constituents on the major decisions we have ahead of us.
"I'm here to serve them, and in order to do so, it's important to know what their priorities are."
