STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) was appointed to three different House committees, including one vice chairmanship.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.
Rep. Smaltz was appointed to the following committees: Commerce, Small Business & Economic Development (Vice Chairman), Roads & Transportation and Public Policy.
“It is truly an honor to be appointed to a leadership position on the Commerce, Small Business & Economic Development Committee,” said Rep. Smaltz. “I look forward to serving my district and Hoosiers all across the state by closely examining the issues that matter most to them. I am excited to assume an active role in each of these committees.”
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
