"Our overriding duty this session is to come up with major property tax relief," said Rep. Neese. "There are a variety of plans on the table, including one by Gov. Daniels, that could provide relief for homeowners. I am hopeful that homeowners will see at the minimum a 40-percent cut. I will examine each plan carefully and determine which will benefit residents of Elkhart and St. Joseph counties." During the session, Rep. Neese will sit as a member on three House legislative committees: Government and Regulatory Reform. Commerce, Energy and Utilities. Environmental Affairs. As the session moves forward, these are some important legislative dates: JAN. 15: The last day to file bills. (House members each have a limit of five bills during this session). JAN. 31: Deadline for the House to pass bills originated in the House. FEB. 27, 28: Deadline for both House and Senate to pass bills already approved by opposite chamber. MARCH 14: Deadline for both chambers to adjourn. Rep. Neese encourages local constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through e-mail at h48@in.gov, or by calling the Statehouse at 1-800-382-9841. It is also possible to write him at 200 W.
