Start Date: 6/28/2012 Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 6/28/2012 End Time: 11:59 PM

The following is a statement from Rep. Tim Neese (R-Elkhart) on the universal healthcare ruling released today:

“I am disappointed but not totally surprised with the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling. Healthcare is too large and complex to manage at the federal level. Indiana families’ health care needs are different than families in other states, our needs are very different than California’s or Illinois. The health care options and the financial implications should reflect accordingly.

“In an effort to give Hoosiers a voice in the federally mandated healthcare debate, this past session I authored Indiana’s Healthcare Compact, a more fiscally conservative alternative that would allow Hoosiers more flexibility and freedom when it comes to healthcare. The Healthcare Compact is an interstate compact that, if approved by Congress, would allow our state to remove itself from the universal healthcare mandate. Though this does not change anything immediately, it is giving Hoosiers a voice.”
