Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Start Date: 7/31/2007 All Day
End Date: 7/31/2007

(Statehouse) July 31, 2007- State Representative Tim Neese (R-Elkhart) commenting on the House Republican plan to provide immediate property tax relief.

"I have been in contact with the Department of Local Government Finance legislative liaison, closely monitoring the tax situation in Elkhart County. Providing immediate relief, especially for Elkhart homeowners, is the most important goal now," stated Rep. Neese. "We are presenting a number of ideas we had talked about during session and I believe they are even more relevant now that tax bills have gone out. The property tax rebate program must be changed to a tax credit so homeowners see immediate relief. I also think that child welfare levies should be taken over by the state. These are just a few ideas that can provide immediate relief. I am hopeful the other legislative caucuses will decide to examine our plan and take action."
