Rep. Neese Offers Paint for Those in Need Annual 'Kick-A-Can' Project Under Way STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Timothy Neese, R-Elkhart, will again offer his "Kick-A-Can" summer home improvement paint program this year.
The program, originally started in 1988 while Neese was a member of the Elkhart City Council, offers low-income citizens assistance in exterior home improvement.
"This is a great way to improve the appearance of a neighborhood," said Rep. Neese. "Often, a house just needs a new coat of paint to increase its value."
The program is funded through profits from a year round recycling aluminum cans project, in addition to paint contributed by North Point Sherwin-Williams Co.
"Sherwin-Williams has contributed positively to this project for years," Rep. Neese said. "Without their help, the Kick-A-Can program would not be successful. I will continue to work hard to build community support and assistance for those in need. The Kick-A-Can program is just one way that I have found to give back to the community."
To be eligible for the program, individuals must live within Rep. Neese's district, own the home or garage to be painted and be financially unable to purchase the paint themselves. Rep. Neese's district includes portions of the town of Granger in St. Joseph County and the northwest portion of Elkhart County. A street-level district map can be found at www.in.gov/h48.
